8.7 km pedestrian walkway built in treated timber, integrated into the natural landscape of the Arouca Geopark.

The Paiva Walkways are one of the most emblematic landscape enhancement projects in Portugal. Located in the Arouca Geopark, they stretch for 8.7 kilometres, following the course of the Paiva River through rock formations, river beaches, cliffs and areas of high biodiversity.

The treated sawn timber construction was carefully planned to have minimal impact on the natural environment, allowing visitors to follow a safe and immersive route through one of the country’s most important natural sanctuaries.

The project, promoted by the Arouca Municipal Council, has become an international benchmark in nature tourism and sustainable engineering.
