Avepark is a strategic project located within the Guimarães Science and Technology Park, combining higher education, scientific research and a new model of university housing. The residence was designed to respond to the growing demand for modern and diversified accommodation solutions for students, researchers and teaching staff, integrating different housing typologies as well as shared social and service spaces.
Conceived as a national reference in terms of energy efficiency, sustainability and innovation, the project is based on a modular and prefabricated timber construction system, enabling high levels of performance, optimised execution and a significant reduction in environmental impact. The building was developed according to demanding sustainability criteria, with solutions that promote longevity, low maintenance costs and adaptability over time.
CarmoForm, in partnership with Portilame, is part of the team responsible for the timber construction of this project, applying its expertise in structural timber engineering and construction. This collaboration clearly demonstrates the potential of timber in large-scale, high-occupancy buildings, reinforcing its role as a reliable, durable and forward-looking construction solution for university housing.
