We build with nature, we think about the future

We build with nature, we think about the future. At CarmoWood, we believe that working with wood means working with nature. This connection requires respect, responsibility and a vision for the future.

We believe in doing good: creating highly functional and durable products without neglecting the ecosystem. Sustainability is not just a nice word, it is our way of being in the world. It is the basis of everything we do.

HERE ARE OUR PRINCIPLES

I. Sustainable Forest Management

We take care of forests with rigour and international certification (such as FSC), ensuring the replacement of trees and respect for biodiversity and natural cycles. We manage the pine forest so that productivity goes hand in hand with forest regeneration. We do not cut or destroy – we thin! We reforest! And we mitigate the risk of fire.

By using selective thinning methods, we remove only the best quality raw material from the forest for the intended product, ensuring that future generations of trees grow healthy and with even more potential for creating new wood products!

II. Innovation and Efficiency

Every Carmo production process is based on the principle of circular economy and protection of wood quality. We invest in technology to reduce waste, increase efficiency and create durable products that value wood as a renewable resource.

III. Commitment to Communities

The people who live near our forests are part of our history. We create jobs and promote projects that improve lives and respect the environment.

IV. Carbon sequestration

“It can also be seen that, in terms of global warming potential, the balance of total CO2 eq. emissions is negative, due to the carbon sink associated with the extraction of pine and white wood.” (ECO WOOD FURNITURE 4.0 AXIS – ECO-INNOVATION, Life Cycle Analysis Report, A. Milne Carmo, Varas Curtas, January 2022 – Association of Wood and Furniture Industries of Portugal.) This paragraph is taken from the life cycle analysis study of one of Carmo’s many wood products, by AIMMP.

The environmental impact of Carmo products is positive, as the CO₂ equivalent emissions balance is negative, thanks to the carbon sequestration provided by the controlled extraction of pine wood.

This result shows that by choosing CarmoWood solutions, customers are actively contributing to climate change mitigation, supporting a company that transforms nature with respect and gives back more than it takes.

V. Commitment to the Customer

It uses solar energy in its factories, recycles waste, has PEFC certification for sustainable forest management and continuously invests in innovation to offer durable and environmentally responsible products to customers in more than 40 countries, with a presence of over 40 years in the market.
